Soul-Music-Artists... Guess What Everybody? Soul Is Back
Soul-Music-Artists... Guess what everybody? Soul is back. New soul artists are taking the music back to its roots and at the same time adding their own little something extra. Most of these artists aren't new to soul music, they've just been flying under the radar. This is what alternative-soul-music.com is about, exposing our visitors to underground soul music artists. So when we say new soul-music-artists, we mean new in the sense that you may not have yet discovered these music artists. What we love most about the new soul-music-artists featured here, is their honesty in presenting the music. We're talking about real songwriters, singers and musicians. There's a certain live element involved and no pre-fabrication. Many of these progressive soul artists are right on the brink of making a splash into the mainstream. But don't worry they made a vow to stay true to the music. By the way you'll never here us say anything negative about the artists and music we make mention of at alternative-soul-music.com and that's because there are no music critics here. We're soul music artists ourselves presenting you with what we know is really good music. Before you meet a few of these soul-music-artists, we thought it would be a good idea to tell you about a book we found entitled "Higher Ground:Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield and the Rise and Fall of American Soul" written by Craig Werner
Amazon.com
. This is a very interesting book and since many of the new soul artists are influenced by these legendary artists, we couldn't resist letting you in on this one.
Thinking of new soul-music-artists...Marlon Saunders comes to mind. The name of his latest cd is "Enter My Mind". We saw him live at Franks', Fort Greene, Brooklyn, N.Y. The house was rock'n that night. It's obvious Marlon is a fan of Earth, Wind, and Fire and you can also hear some Donnie Hathaway going on in his voice as well. He's an incredible talent both as a singer and musician. Be on the look out for him he's definitely on his way. We got a chance to speak with him and he's already at work on a new album. So if we've said enough to spark an interest, feel free to check Marlon out. You can listen to mp3 samples of his music at www.marlonsaunders.com.
Last night we were sitting around listening to Rahsaan Pattersons' cd "After Hours" (available on line at Buy Music.com) Soul and afterwards we ended up with Rahsaan on the brain. The very next day we opened up the village Voice and as we were thumbing through we hit page 85, (the music section). There it was... a write up on Rahsaan Patterson... how coincidental, we were getting ready to tell our visitors about him. Of course you know we're going to suggest you refer to the Janurary 5-11, 2005 issue of the "Voice" and read the article ("The Supernatural Love Child of Chaka Khan and Al Jarreau" by Jason King). The title of the article pretty much sums it up. Need we say more. You might be able to look up back issues at
www.villagevoice.com
. "After Hours" is his third solo release and (first indie record). We heard him live a few years back opening for Earth, Wind, and Fire (saying to ourselves who is this guy), we soon found out. He's a phenomonal singer with a style totally his own. You'll find cds by this soul-music-artist at
Amazon.com. soul-music-artists
. Search by artist name are cd title. Marlon and Rahsaan are just two of many shining new soul-music artists... there are so many more. So stay tuned... we will be presenting an abundance of these talented artists throughout this site.
